Statement of Purpose
To put it simply, there is a need for clinical experience for foreign trained doctors and medical students. The biggest complaint from Caribbean students in many of their rotations is that the physicians do not teach. The biggest complaint from foreign medical graduates from abroad is that they have a hard time finding quality clinical opportunities here in the United States, and once the get here, they are left without any guidance of what to do when they get here. What we are trying to do is fill the gap where there is a need.
Our Goal
Our goal is to create a service that creates an educational experience with a clinical aspect and provide an environment where these medical students and graduates can focus on their education.
We initially started out providing clinical clerkships and externships to foreign students and international medical graduates. We noticed increasing number Caribbean medical students requesting for information about American clinical rotations and our clinical medical education program. American Clinical Clerkships being a medical student driven organization, we decided to expand.
During the clinical rotation, students develop the clinical skills needed to critically think, assess, and learn the appropriate use resources for the diagnosis and treatment of patients. They learn the importance of both verbal and non-verbal communication with the patient and their family.
